Patricia Ellsbury

BOONE, Iowa—Patricia A. Ellsbury, 86, of Boone, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at her home. According to Patricia’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held.

Patricia was born January 11, 1939, in Boone, the daughter of Carl and Lorraine (Parrish) Mudge. She attended Boone High School, and graduated in 1957. After high school, Patricia married the love of her life, Loren Dale Ellsbury, on December 6, 1959 at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. From this union, two sons were born – Micheal and Shawn.

Patricia worked as a dispatcher for the Boone Police Department for a number of years, before becoming a receptionist for CDS, and retiring from there in May of 2004.

Patricia filled her time with her many talents; including oil painting, crocheting, pottery, her deer hide projects, and poetry. She had two poems published with the National Poetry Association.

Patricia was able to spread her talents around the community, ranging from selling her art, to giving it to her family to enjoy, and even making an oil painting for her niece’s wedding. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lorraine Mudge; an infant brother, James Clifford Mudge; brother-in-law, LaVerne Holmberg; and two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Mudge and Judy Ellsbury.

Patrica is survived by her husband of 65 years, Loren Ellsbury of Boone; two sons, Micheal Ellsbury of Boone and Shawn Ellsbury; sister, Barbra Holmberg of Boone; brother, Ronald Mudge of Madrid; and three brothers-in-law, Arnold (Peggy) Ellsbury of Perry, Ronald Ellsbury of Perry, and Gary (Trudy) Ellsbury of Boone; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family and be mailed to Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th St, Boone Iowa 50036, in care of the Patricia Ellsbury family.
