The Ogden softball team split a road doubleheader Thursday, May 29, against Interstate 35, taking the opener 7-5 before falling in the nightcap 10-2, in Truro.
In Game 1, Ogden jumped out early and never looked back.
The Bulldogs scored a run in the first inning and added another in the third before breaking things open with a four-run fourth.
They tacked on an insurance run in the sixth to seal the win.
Sophie Seligman led the offensive charge, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with 3 RBIs and scoring twice.
Aubrey Leonard and Harleigh Janssen each added two hits, with Leonard crossing the plate three times.
Katie Wilcoxson pitched a complete game, striking out two and holding off a late Roadrunner rally.
Interstate 35 scored four runs in the first inning and added one more in the fourth but couldn’t overcome Ogden’s mid-game surge.
In the second game, Ogden managed just two runs—one in the first and another in the third—while the Roadrunners responded with a steady offensive attack.
Interstate 35 scored in three separate innings, including a six-run fifth that put the game out of reach.
Seligman continued her strong day with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored.
Grace Christensen added a hit, and Leonard scored once more.
Clara Kruse took the loss in the circle.
With the split, Ogden moves to 2-1 on the season and Interstate 35 is 1-2.
The Bulldogs return home tonight to host Boone (1-1) at 7 p.m.
