It was a tough night Tuesday, June 10, for Madrid as both the baseball and softball teams dropped West Central Conference games to Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center at home.
Baseball: ACGC 17, Madrid 12
In a high-scoring affair, the Tigers came up short in a 17-12 loss to ACGC.
The game featured offensive fireworks from both sides, with Madrid putting up 12 runs on a strong night at the plate.
Emerson Bridgewater led the Tigers with three hits, including a triple, four RBIs, and two stolen bases.
McCoy Cooley added two hits and drove in three runs, while Mason Moorman chipped in with two hits, a run scored, and an RBI.
Preston Wicker also contributed with a hit, a run, and an RBI.
Wicker started on the mound and took the loss, striking out three. Conner Pettiecord came on in relief and added three more strikeouts.
The loss drops Madrid to 4-6 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
ACGC improved to 4-4-1 overall and 2-3 in the West Central Conference.
Softball: ACGC 11, Madrid 2
On the softball diamond, Madrid fell, 11-2.
The loss drops the Tigers to 3-8 overall and 1-6 in conference play, while ACGC picked up its first win of the season, improving to 1-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
Despite the loss, Madrid will have a quick opportunity to bounce back.
Both Madrid teams will host Panorama tonight at 7 p.m. in another round of West Central Conference action.
The baseball team will face a Panorama squad that enters at 2-7 overall and 1-6 in the conference, while the softball team will take on a 3-8 (1-6) Panorama team.
