Softball: No. 2 North Polk 5, Boone 2

At Gary Creasman Field, the Boone Toreadors softball team put up a fight against Class 4A, No. 2-ranked North Polk, ultimately falling 5-2.

Senior pitcher Carly Busch delivered a complete game performance in the circle, striking out two batters.

Busch also led the offense with two hits.

Shannon Jenkins drove in Boone’s lone RBI, while Hailee Bingham and Gracie Vodenik each added a hit.

Bingham and Kaylee Kuehl both crossed the plate to account for Boone’s two runs.

Boone fell to 9-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference while North Polk improved to 11-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference.

The Toreadors will look to bounce back tonight when they host Bondurant-Farrar (8-3 overall, 1-2 conference) at 7:15 p.m.

The game will be broadcast live on AM 1590, FM 101.5, and streaming at kwbglive.com, with sports director Ryan Wendt on the call.
