Ogden softball drops pair at Earlham

The Ogden softball team came up just short in a pair of West Central Conference matchups Thursday, June 12, falling to Earlham 6-5 in Game 1 and 6-3 in Game 2 in Earlham.

The Ogden softball team came up just short in a pair of West Central Conference matchups Thursday, June 12, falling to Earlham 6-5 in Game 1 and 6-3 in Game 2 in Earlham. 

Game 1: Earlham 6, Ogden 5 

Sophie Seligman sparked the offense with two hits, a run scored, and two stolen bases. 

Clara Kruse drove in two runs with a key hit, while Aubrey Leonard, Lauren Mathews, and Camryn Askelsen each added a hit and scored a run.  

Harleigh Janssen also contributed a hit. 

Katie Wilcoxson pitched a complete game and struck out two in the loss. 

Game 2: Earlham 6, Ogden 3 

Grace Christensen led the way with two hits and two stolen bases.  

Janssen continued her strong night with two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.  

Leonard added a hit and scored, while Breaunna Wenger and Sophia Moorman each chipped in with a hit. 

Clara Kruse went the distance in the circle and took the loss for Ogden in Game 2. 

With the losses, Ogden moves to 7-7 on the season and 4-6 in the conference 

Earlham improved to 8-6 overall and 8-2 in the conference. 

The Bulldogs will head to Underwood for a tournament tomorrow, where they’ll face No. 7 Missouri Valley, Council Bluffs Lewis Central, and Griswold.
