Bulldogs shut out by Van Meter

Ogden’s baseball team was held scoreless in both games of its West Central Conference doubleheader against Van Meter, falling 4-0 in Game 1 and 7-0 in Game 2, Thursday, June 19 in Ogden.

Ogden’s baseball team was held scoreless in both games of its West Central Conference doubleheader against Van Meter, falling 4-0 in Game 1 and 7-0 in Game 2, Thursday, June 19 in Ogden. 

In the opener, Colson Carson, Keagan Ristvedt, and CeJay Jones each recorded a hit and Tanner Rohe took the loss on the mound, striking out three. 

Game 2 saw Rohe and Carson again collecting hits.  

Rohe also added a stolen base.  

Hunter Mitchels pitched for Ogden and struck out five in the loss. 

Ogden fell to 8-13 overall and 5-9 in the conference. 

Van Meter improved to 16-5 overall and 8-3 in the conference. 

Ogden will host Woodward-Granger (7-10, 6-6) for a single conference game at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 23. 

Softball: Ogden loses to top-ranked Van Meter 

Facing the No. 1-ranked team in Class 2A, Ogden softball dropped both games of its doubleheader to Van Meter, 2-0 and 10-2. 

In Game 1, the Bulldogs held Van Meter to just two runs.  

Breaunna Wenger, Aubrey Leonard, and Grace Christensen each had a hit, while Katie Wilcoxson took the loss. 

Game 2 saw more offense from both sides.  

Leonard led the way with two hits and a run scored.  

Sophie Seligman added two hits and an RBI, while Adi Banks also drove in a run. 

Wenger, Camryn Askelsen, Lauren Mathews, and Christensen each contributed a hit. 

Clara Kruse took the loss in the circle. 

Ogden now sits at 9-11 overall and 5-8 in conference play.  

Van Meter improved to 19-2 overall and a perfect 14-0 in the conference. 

Ogden will host Woodward-Granger (12-6, 6-5) in a conference doubleheader on Monday, June 23.
