The Madrid softball team picked up a 3-2 non-conference win over Perry on Thursday, June 19, on the road.
After falling behind 2-0 in the third inning, Madrid responded with two runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game.
The Tigers then pushed across the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh and held on in the bottom half to seal the win.
The victory improves Madrid’s overall record to 5-11.
On Tuesday, Madrid dropped a 4-2 decision against West Central Valley in a West Central Conference matchup at Stuart.
Tilly Sweet led the offense with two hits, an RBI, and a stolen base.
Mayzie Surratt also had two hits and drove in a run.
Samantha Springer and Hailey Renslow each scored a run, while Avian Landers and Hadley Mickle added hits.
Surratt pitched a complete game and struck out three in the loss.
Madrid now sits at 5-11 overall and 2-9 in conference play.
The Tigers will travel to Mason City on Saturday for a tournament, where they’ll face Hudson and Class 1A No. 14-ranked Mason City Newman Catholic.
