Seligman homers in rout over South Central Calhoun

The Ogden softball team notched two non-conference victories, an 8-7 victory over Greene County and a 30-0 win over South Central Calhoun last week.

The Ogden softball team notched two non-conference victories, an 8-7 victory over Greene County and a 30-0 win over South Central Calhoun last week. 

Ogden 8, Greene County 7 (8 innings) 

In extra innings, Ogden held off a late rally to secure an 8-7 non-conference win over Greene County at Jefferson Thursday, July 3.  

The Bulldogs built a commanding lead with 1 run in the first, 4 in the fourth, and 5 in the fifth, but Greene County stormed back with 7 runs in the final two innings to force extras. 

Ogden responded with a clutch run in the top of the eighth, and Katie Wilcoxson shut the door in the bottom half to earn the complete game victory, striking out 4. 

Breaunna Wenger and Sophie Seligman led the offense with 2 hits and 2 runs apiece. 

Seligman added a triple and 2 RBIs, while Wenger swiped 2 bases.  

Adi Banks, Aubrey Leonard, and Grace Christensen each contributed key hits and runs in the win. 

Ogden 30, South Central Calhoun 0 

The Bulldogs had a 30-0 rout over South Central Calhoun, scoring in every inning and racking up 24 hits Wednesday, July 2. 

Seligman had 5 runs scored, 8 RBIs, a triple, a home run, and a stolen base.  

Wenger added 4 hits, 4 runs, 4 RBIs, 3 doubles, and a triple.  

Harleigh Janssen and Camryn Askelsen combined for 5 hits and 6 RBIs. 

Wilcoxson once again delivered in the circle, tossing a complete game shutout with 4 strikeouts. 

Ogden improved to 20-11 overall and 10-8 in the West Central Conference.  

Ogden will face Des Moines Christian (14-11 overall, 11-7 conference) in a conference matchup tonight at 6:30 p.m. on the road.
