Boone softball splits pair of games

The Boone softball team got a win over Perry Thursday, July 3, after a hard-fought loss against a ranked Bondurant-Farrar squad Wednesday, July 2.

The Boone softball team got a win over Perry Thursday, July 3, after a hard-fought loss against a ranked Bondurant-Farrar squad Wednesday, July 2. 

Boone 10, Perry 2 

Boone’s offense came alive in a 10-2 rout of Perry, with contributions up and down the lineup in a non-conference game at home. 

Sydney Adams led the charge with 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, and a stolen base.  

Claire Hardinger and Caitlin Needham each drove in 2 runs, while Carly Busch, Kaylee Kuehl, Brooke Weisbrod, Avery Howie, and Breanna Brown all added key hits and runs. 

On the mound, Caitlin Needham earned the complete game victory with 1 strikeout. 

No. 15 Bondurant-Farrar 2, Boone 1 

Facing a tough test on the road, Boone battled hard but came up just short against 15th-ranked Bondurant-Farrar in a 2-1 conference loss.  

Carly Busch scored Boone’s lone run and had a hit, while Brooke Weisbrod collected 2 hits and pitched in relief, striking out 2.  

Avery Howie drove in the team’s only run. 

Carly Busch started in the circle and struck out 3, keeping the game close throughout. 

The Toreadors brought their overall record to 19-11 and are 7-7 in the Raccoon River Conference.  

Boone heads to No. 11 Winterset (21-13 overall, 8-6 conference) tonight for a conference doubleheader at 5 and 7 p.m.
