Boone volleyball team opened its 2025 season with a hard-fought match against Webster City on Thursday, August 28, at Boone High School.
The Toreadors fell just short, dropping the season opener 3-2 in a five-set thriller.
Webster City took the first set 25-19, but Boone responded with a tight 25-23 win in the second.
The Lynx regained the lead with a 25-21 third-set victory, only for Boone to force a decisive fifth set by winning the fourth 25-21.
In the final set, Webster City edged Boone 15-11 to seal the match.
Boone’s offense was led by Jenna Johnson, who dished out 30 assists and served 20-for-22 with 3 aces.
Claire Hardinger and Delaney Good each recorded 9 kills, while Madelyn Davidson added 2 blocks at the net.
Defensively, Delaney Good led with 15 digs, followed by Baylee Bunning with 13, and Taylor Arringdale and Karsyn Smith with 10 apiece.
Bunning also went a perfect 14-for-14 from the service line with 1 ace, while Smith added 4 aces and Arringdale served 14-for-15.
Boone (0-1) will begin Raccoon River Conference play next week, hosting North Polk (1-2) on Tuesday, September 2 at Boone High School.
