Boone girls swimming is third at Mason City

The Boone girls' swimming and diving team delivered a strong performance Saturday at the Mason City Invitational, placing third overall in a field of seven teams.

The Boone girls’ swimming and diving team delivered a strong performance Saturday at the Mason City Invitational, placing third overall in a field of seven teams.  

Boone scored 330.5 points, finishing behind Waukee (632) and Decorah (342.5), and ahead of Spencer, Mason City, Algona, and Fort Dodge. 

The Toreadors improved their overall record to 7-2.  

Avery Howie placed 2nd in the 50 Free (26.08) and 2nd in the 100 Back (1:05.00). 

Mackenzie Klatt took 4th in the 200 IM (2:32.45) and 6th in the 100 Back (1:08.41). 

Claire Enabnit placed 7th in the 200 Free and 6th in the 100 Fly. 

Lucy Enabnit and Morgan Cox were neck-and-neck in the 500 Free, finishing 6th and 7th respectively. 

Quinn Houston placed 8th in the 100 Free and 14th in the 50 Free. 

Harper Houston added points in both the 50 Free and 100 Breast. 

The 200 Medley Relay team of Howie, Klatt, Claire Enabnit, and Quinn Houston placed 4th with a time of 2:03.67. 

The 400 Free Relay team of Quinn Houston, Finley Houser, Howie and Klatt earned 4th place (4:10.01). 

Boone’s divers set the tone early, with Amaya Filipiak placing 5th (284.95) and Hailey Olson 7th (254.95) in the 11-dive competition. 

Boone will hold a home meet against Perry and Algona on Tuesday, September 9, at 5:30 p.m.
