Boone girls place fifth at Gilbert Invitational

The Boone cross country teams took on a challenging field Thursday, September 11, at the Gilbert Invitational, held at the Iowa State Cross Country Course in Ames. The girls’ team impressed with a 5th-place finish out of 15 teams, while the boys battled through a deep field to place 19th.

The Boone cross country teams took on a challenging field Thursday, September 11, at the Gilbert Invitational, held at the Iowa State Cross Country Course in Ames.  

The girls’ team impressed with a 5th-place finish out of 15 teams, while the boys battled through a deep field to place 19th. 

Boone’s girls’ squad packed tightly at the front, placing three runners in the top 30. 

Whitney Chesnut led the way, finishing 28th in 20:04.13. 

Briella Johnson was right behind in 29th with a time of 20:04.94. 

Emmalyn Thomas crossed in 30th at 20:07.07. 

Reagan Morgan added a strong finish in 35th with 20:20.09. 

Morgan Chesnut, Elin Selby, and Bryana Morgan rounded out the scoring with times of 22.21.09, 23:07.50 and 24:38.00 helping Boone total 203 points for a solid team finish. 

The Boone boys faced a competitive lineup and gained valuable experience. 

Dorian Myers led the Toreadors with a time of 18:24.70, placing 90th. 

Calvin Cook finished in 20:03.34 while Owen Hill ran 20:35.99. 

Kamden Lehman crossed in 20:45;47, and Simon Enabnit finished in 21:38.88.  

Samuel Chesnut, and Pearson Lampe both contributed to the team’s 556-point total with finishing in 22:04.07 and 22:13.54, respectively. 

The boys were 19th out of 20 teams.

Both Boone teams will return to action on Monday, September 15, at the Mike Carr Invitational at the Ballard Golf & Country club north of Huxley.
