BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Police Department, Monday afternoon released a statement regarding their investigation into a report of a student with a weapon at the Boone Middle School. Their statement was released on the Department’s Facebook page:
On September 15, 2025, at approximately 9:03 a.m., the Boone Police Department received a report from administrators at Boone Middle School regarding a juvenile male who had brought a firearm into the school.
Officers responded immediately and made contact with all involved parties. Upon investigation, the weapon was determined to be an “airsoft” style gun that had been painted to resemble a real firearm. Officers took possession of the weapon.
The juvenile male was charged with threat of terrorism and released to his parents.
At this time, officers believe there are no ongoing threats to students, staff, or the community. The Boone Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of our schools and appreciates the swift actions of school staff in reporting this matter.
