Boone wins best of Boone County

The Boone Toreadors came out on top at the Best of Boone County Volleyball Invitational Thursday, September 18, at Ogden High School, winning both of their matches to claim county bragging rights in a round-robin format featuring Boone, Ogden, and Madrid.

The Boone Toreadors came out on top at the Best of Boone County Volleyball Invitational Thursday, September 18, at Ogden High School, winning both of their matches to claim county bragging rights in a round-robin format featuring Boone, Ogden, and Madrid. 

Game 1: Boone 2, Madrid 1 

Boone opened the night with a hard-fought three-set win over Madrid. 

Jenna Johnson led the offense with 15 assists. 

Madelyn Davidson had 6 kills, followed by Delaney Good with 5 and Tria Hoyle with 4. 

Baylee Bunning added 5 digs, and Madilyn Barrett recorded a block. 

Good was perfect from the service line, going 15-for-15 with 3 aces, while Karsyn Smith added 2 aces and Halle Johnson went 9-for-9. 

Madrid stats were not yet available for this match. 

Game 2: Ogden 2, Madrid 0 

Ogden swept Madrid in straight sets. 

Ella Anderson dished out 10 assists. 

Olivia Coleman and Paysen Graden each had 3 kills. 

Sydney Craighton led the net defense with 3 blocks. 

Aubrey Leonard added 7 digs, and Coleman was perfect from the service line, going 17-for-17 with 4 aces. 

Madrid stats were not yet available for this match.

 

Game 3: Boone 2, Ogden 0 

Boone closed the night with a sweep of Ogden to finish 2-0 in the invitational. 

Johnson had a standout match with 19 assists and 3 service aces, 

Good led the attack with 7 kills and 6 digs. 

Tria Hoyle added 6 kills, and Davidson contributed 2 blocks. 

Smith served 100 percent. 

For Ogden,Anderson had 8 assists and 8 digs. 

Coleman led with 6 kills. 

Melana Sekser and Leonard each had 6 digs. 

Dakota Jones and Coleman each added a service ace. 

Ogden served 100 percent as a team. 

Boone improved to 3-6 while Ogden is 9-5 and Madrid falls to 3-10 on the season. 

Boone travels to Bondurant-Farrar (5-7) for a Raccoon River Conference match on Tuesday, September 23. 

Madrid hosts Woodward-Granger (5-5) for a West Central Conference match at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 23.  

This match will be broadcast live on KWBG FM 101.5, AM 1590, and streaming at kwbglive.com with sports director Ryan Wendt on the call. 

Ogden hosts Panorama (3-6) for a West Central Conference match on Thursday, September 25 at 6:30 p.m.  

This match will also be broadcast live on KWBG and kwbglive.com.
