The Boone girls’ tennis team continued its stellar season with a 5-0 victory over Grundy Center on Saturday, September 20, at McHose Park, advancing in the Class 1A Region 6 bracket.

Boone, now 11-1 on the season, won four singles matches in straight sets and one in tiebreaker before doubles play was deemed unnecessary.

At the top of the lineup, No. 1 Kaylee Kuehl set the tone, winning 6-0, 6-1, and No. 2 Livi Schneider followed with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep.

No. 4 Juliana Lutz delivered a 6-0, 6-3 win, while No. 6 Olivia Conlin closed out the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

No. 3 Claire Hardinger took the first set 6-0, dropped the second 3-6, and clinched the match in a third-set tiebreaker 1-0 (2).

No. 5 Ally Thompson did not need to finish her match, as Boone had already secured the five points needed for the team win.

Boone will look to keep the momentum going when they host Grinnell (4-5) in another Class 1A Region 6 match on Wednesday, September 24 at 1 p.m., again at McHose Park.
