The Boone girls’ cross country team delivered a strong performance at the Humboldt Invitational, finishing 2nd overall with 72 points, just behind host Humboldt, who won with 69 points in a closely contested meet.
Whitney Chesnut led the Toreadors, placing 4th in a time of 21:11.88.
Emma Thomas followed with a 9th-place finish at 21:38.93, and Reagan Morgan placed 11th in 22:06.80.
Morgan Chesnut and Elin Selby placed 28th in 24:39.21 and 34th in 25:22.10, respectively.
Bry Morgan and Claire Hanson also competed, finishing in 26:19.02 and 34:41.88.
Boone boys place sixth
On the boys’ side, senior Dorian Myers led Boone with a 4th-place finish, clocking 18:33.70.
Junior Calvin Cook and Owen Hill placed 29th in 21:05.90 and 33rd in 21:17.20, respectively.
Kam Lehman (21:40.80), Simon Enabnit (22:30.40), Wyatt Johnson (22:44.30), and Sam Chesnut (22:48.50) rounded out the scoring.
The Boone boys finished 6th overall with 161 points, in a meet won by Algona, who scored 58 points.
Both teams will return to action on Thursday, September 25, at the Norsemen Cross Country Invitational held at River Bend Golf Course in Story City.
