The Madrid girls’ cross country team finished 4th at the Roland-Story Invitational, led by Madelyn Grothus, who captured first place with a time of 19:16.64.
Grothus was joined at the front of the pack by teammates Katelyn Brandhorst, who placed 3rd (19:33.28), and Hannah Brandhorst, who finished 8th (20:10.81), giving Madrid three runners in the top 10.
Rounding out the scoring for Madrid were Charis Peasley (23:05.59), Adelyn White (23:20.23), and Ari Mundy (23:38.72).
Makayla Mullenbach also contributed with a time of 25:03.97.
Madrid Boys Finish 12th
On the boys’ side, Hudson White led Madrid with a 29th-place finish, clocking 17:57.38.
He was followed by Cavin Pehl (34th, 18:07.92) and Kris Petersen (43rd, 18:50.43).
Aiden Titus, Blane Schneider, Landen Schneider, and Cole Berberich rounded out the varsity lineup, helping Madrid secure a 12th-place team finish with 259 points.
Madrid’s cross country teams will return to action on Monday, September 29, at the Ogden Invitational, held at Don Williams Golf Course.
