The Boone High School girls swim team made a strong showing at the Johnston Invitational held at Johnston High School on Saturday, October 11.
Competing against some of the top programs in the state, Boone held their own, scoring points in multiple events and finishing 7th overall with 74 team points.
The meet kicked off with the 200 Yard Medley Relay, where Boone’s team of Avery Howie, Harper Houston, Claire Enabnit, and Quinn Houston touched the wall in 2:02.17, earning a 6th place finish.
In individual events, Howie stood out with a 4th place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 25.96 seconds.
She also placed 4th in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:04.99.
Makenzie Klatt added depth to Boone’s scoring, placing 11th in the 200 Yard Individual Medley (2:29.59) and 9th in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:06.83).
In the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, the team of Finley Houser, Howie, Quinn Houston, and Makenzie Klatt secured another 6th place finish with a time of 4:00.65.
The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Sara Gute, Houser, Klatt, and Enabnit placed 8th, finishing in 1:51.58.

Next up for the Toreadors is a triangular meet on Tuesday, October 14 at the Newton YMCA, where Boone will compete against Carroll and Newton.
