The Madrid volleyball team closed out its 2025 season on Monday, October 20, falling in straight sets to Colfax-Mingo in the Class 2A Region 4 first round at Colfax-Mingo High School.
Iyla Fine led the offense with 14 assists, while Samantha Springer powered the attack with 8 kills.
Defensively, Fine and Paige Richards each recorded 7 digs, and both added a serve ace.
At the net, Jaela Hansen, Lillie Benton, Lauren Dvorak, and Samanatha Springer each contributed a block.
The team served an impressive 98 percent for the match.
With the defeat, Madrid finishes the season 7-28 overall, while Colfax-Mingo improves to 12-15 and advances to face Grundy Center (32-9) in the next round.
Woodward-Granger Tournament
Madrid competed in four matches at the Woodward-Granger Tournament Saturday, October 18.
Madrid 2, Colfax-Mingo 1
Fine had 8 assists and 8 digs, and Dvorak ended with 5 kills.
Benton recorded 1 block, and Richards had 2 serve aces.

Fine had 3 assists and 6 digs, and Dvorak recorded 2 blocks.
Velky and Bradley had 100% serving.
South Central Calhoun 2, Madrid 0
Fine recorded 2 assists and 7 digs, and Fine, Benton, Dvorak had 2 kills each.
Benton ended with 2 blocks, and Richards had 2 aces on 7-for-7 serving.

Fine had 5 assists, while Dvorak and Springer recorded 5 kills each.
Hansen and Dvorak ended with 2 blocks, and Richards had 8 digs.
