The Madrid girls’ cross country team delivered a dominant performance on Thursday, October 23, winning the Class 1A State Qualifying Meet in Jewell and securing a team berth to the Iowa High School State Cross Country Meet in Fort Dodge on Saturday, November 1.
Led by senior Katelyn Brandhorst, who took 1st place with a time of 19:17.7, the Tigers placed five runners in the top 20, finishing with just 40 points to beat runner-up Alta-Aurelia (85).

The Madrid boys team placed 8th overall, led by freshman Hudson White, who finished 17th with a time of 18:24.4.
Senior Cavin Pehl followed closely in 19th at 18:29.3, and Kris Petersen placed 28th in 19:07.7.
