Kathleen Williams

KWBG 10/27/25

BOONE, Iowa—Kathleen (Kathy) Williams, age 75, a beloved mother and grandmother of Boone, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Boone County Hospital, Boone, Iowa.

Kathy was born to F. Lyle and Alice (Johnson) Flynn on April 29, 1950, in Ord, Nebraska. She graduated from United Community School in 1968. Kathy continued her education at Boone Junior College and began working at Boone County Hospital.

She was united in marriage to Robert Williams on December 7, 1974, at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. They made their home in Boone for their 50 years of marriage.

Afterward, Kathy worked at Boone State Bank in Boone for two years before starting her own in-home daycare. For the next 12 years, she devoted herself to providing loving care not only to her immediate family, but also to many families throughout the Boone community.

Following that, Kathy returned to work at Boone Bank and Trust in Boone for another ten years and eventually finished her career at West Central Cooperative.

Kathy loved family vacations and snowmobiling trips to Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. She also had a passion for Arabian horses and horse shows. In 1985, Kathy founded the Rural and City Newcomers 4-H Club in Boone, which she proudly led for more than 20 years.

Kathleen’s greatest joy was her family. She especially loved encouraging her granddaughters, attending their activities, and celebrating their achievements with pride.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert Williams; parents, F. Lyle and Alice Flynn; brother, Randal Flynn; and grandson, Michael Williams.

Kathleen is survived by her three sons, Mike (Shari) Williams of Boone, Chris (Angie) Williams of Boone, Kelly (Amie) Williams of Boone; five grandchildren; Kelsey (Aaron), Kayla, Katelyn (Hayden), Pyper and Tenley Williams; brother, Robert (Mary) Flynn of Boone and two sister-in-laws, Patty Flynn and Dena Flynn, and many nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 5 to 7pm at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 10am at the First United Methodist Church, Boone; with Pastor Adam Gordon officiating. Interment will be in Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family, where a donation will be made to the Boone County 4-H. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
