BOONE, Iowa—Mayor Elijah Stines issued the following statement about this year’s Thanksgiving Day: “President John F. Kennedy said, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” “As we gather with family, friends, and neighbors this Thanksgiving, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the people of Boone. Our community continues to thrive because of your kindness, resilience, and commitment to one another. “I am especially grateful for our dedicated city employees who work tirelessly – often behind the scenes – to keep Boone safe, welcoming, and moving forward. Your service to our community does not go unnoticed, and I thank you for your hard work throughout the year. “On behalf of the City of Boone, I wish every resident a joyful, safe, and peaceful Thanksgiving holiday. May it be a time of reflection, gratitude, and connection.”
