
The Boone boys’ swim team beat Newton and Des Moines East in a triangular meet Tuesday, December 9, at Boone High School.
Boone’s 200 yard medley relay — Simon Enabnit, Isaac Clark, Carson Mueggenberg, and Isaac Winey — stormed to victory with a time of 1:44.97.
In the 200 yard freestyle, Mueggenberg touched first at 2:00.47, narrowly edging out teammate Cooper Jensen, who finished second at 2:00.84.
In the 200 yard IM, Brady Hyman placed second with 2:18.37, while Marcus Cook claimed third at 2:29.78.
The sprint showdown in the 50 yard freestyle saw Enabnit win in 23.66, while Oscar Miller secured fourth with 25.95.
In the 100 yard butterfly, Calvin Cook took second in the in 1:04.73, and Hyman followed in fourth with 1:06.68.
In the 100 yard freestyle, Winey dominated with a winning time of 53.05, and Jensen added a third-place finish at 53.81.
Enabnit won the 500 yard freestyle in 5:28.74, while Tristan Bierwagen earned third in 6:00.64.
The Toreadors also won the 200 yard free relay, where Mueggenberg, Jensen, Marcus Cook, and Miller combined for a winning time of 1:37.81.
In the 100 yard backstroke, Mueggenberg finished second in 1:03.72, and Calvin Cook took third at 1:07.45.
In the 100 Yard breaststroke, Clark powered to first in 1:01.23, and Winey added a fifth-place finish at 1:18.00.
The meet closed with the 400 yard free relay, where Boone’s team of Enabnit, Marcus Cook, Bryan Anderson, and Winey secured second place in 3:42.55.
The Boone Toreadors finished first overall with 55 points, ahead of Newton’s 36 and Des Moines East’s 15.
The Toreadors next swim at the Grinnell Tiger Boys Swim Invite on Saturday, December 13, at Grinnell College Natatorium.
