The Madrid Tigers girls’ basketball team came up just short on the road Friday, December 19, falling to West Central Valley 31-27 in a West Central Activities Conference game.
The game was tight throughout.
The teams were tied 13-13 at halftime, and West Central Valley held a 22-21 lead after three quarters.
Madrid stayed within striking distance but couldn’t overcome the Wildcats’ late push in the fourth.
Lauren Dvorak had 11 points (3/9 FG, 5/8 FT), 13 rebounds (6 offensive), 1 block and 2 steals.
Mayzie Surratt had 6 points (2/11 FG, 2/11 3PT), 4 rebounds and 1 assist.
Laura Eagleton had 5 points (1/4 FG, 3/4 FT), 4 rebounds and 1 steal.
Madrid is now 5-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference, while West Central Valley improves to 2-5 overall and 2-4 in league play.
Madrid travels to Ogden on Friday, January 2 for a conference doubleheader.
The girls tip at 6:00 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.
