BOONE, Iowa—Ruth Ann Bryant, 92, of Boone, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Boone County Hospital in Boone.
Ruth was born March 8, 1933, in Boone, the daughter of Pearl and Sadie (Willis) Watkins. She graduated from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Ruth worked as an RN for 42 years, she started at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, then at the Boone County Hospital and retired as the Director of Nursing at the Ogden Manor in Ogden.
Ruth was united in marriage to James “Jim” Bryant on October 29, 1960, at the Central Christian Church in Boone. They were blessed with two daughters, Marcia and Marla.
The family attended numerous INDY 500’s, enjoyed hot air ballooning and traveling. Ruth was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Sweet Adelines, both in Des Moines and Boone.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim in 2009; two sisters and four brothers.
Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Marcia (Barry) Schuler of Boone, and Marla (Leonard, Sr.) Bundy of Des Moines; grandchildren, Anitra Bundy, LaCresha Bundy, Leonard Bundy, Jr., Nick (Noelle) Schuler, Amber (William) McNally, Jessup Schuler and Ainsley Schuler; great-grandchildren, Nick Bundy, Eli Lowry, Tre Bundy and Amaris Bundy; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Central Christian Church, 803 Greene Street, in Boone, with Pastor Clay Boyd officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM at the church and continue until service time. The funeral service will be livestreamed and can be viewed on Ruth’s Tribute Wall on the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel website.
