Ogden girls place 7th at Boone tournament

The Ogden Bulldogs girls’ wrestling team finished 7th overall in a competitive field of 16 teams at the Boone Girls Wrestling Invitational on Saturday, December 20.

The Ogden Bulldogs girls’ wrestling team finished 7th overall in a competitive field of 16 teams at the Boone Girls Wrestling Invitational on Saturday, December 20.  

Rylin Casey (100 lbs) led the way for Ogden, earning a runner-up finish.  

Casey pinned her first two opponents and scored a 13-0 major decision in the semifinals before falling in the championship match. 

Jozlyn Wells (130 lbs) claimed 3rd place, bouncing back from a semifinal loss with two pins in the consolation rounds, including a quick fall in the 3rd-place match. 

Makayla Alexander (170 lbs) also finished 3rd, storming through the consolation bracket with four straight pins after an early loss. 

Grace Hammer (190 lbs) added another 3rd-place finish, recording three pins on the day, including a 39-second fall in her final match. 

Ruby Tasler (235 lbs) placed 4th, highlighted by two first-period pins in the championship bracket. 

Sophie Seligman (125 lbs) earned 4th place, winning three matches and scoring a big pin in the consolation semifinals. 

Trinity Stoneburner (110 lbs) and Carlie Hinderaker (115 lbs) both finished 7th, each picking up key wins in the consolation rounds. 

Alauna Wells (135 lbs) also placed 7th, closing her day with a 1-0 decision.

The Bulldogs next host at Boone at 5 p.m. Monday, January 5.
