
The Boone boys’ swim team dove into the new year Saturday, January 3, at the 10th Annual Ken Gaeth Invitational at East High School in Des Moines, finishing second overall with 280 points, just behind Southeast Polk’s 290.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Isaac Winey, Calvin Cook, Cooper Jensen and Marcus Cook powered to a third-place finish in 1:49.57.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Simon Enabnit (1:55.11) and Brady Hyman (1:55.27) went 1-2, and Marcus Cook had a fifth-place finish at 2:08.30.
The individual medley saw Calvin Cook take fourth in 2:17.96, while teammates Tristan Bierwagen and Wes Schuler secured top-15 finishes.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Isaac Clark ended in second place in 21.81 while Carson Mueggenberg wasn’t far behind, touching fifth at 23.02, and Winey added a seventh-place finish.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Jensen was third in 58.99, while Marcus Cook and Bryan Anderson tied for 11th at 1:06.99.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Clark finished second in 49.06, followed by Mueggenberg (51.01) and Hyman (52.23).
Enabnit claimed third in the 500 free (5:31.73), while Bierwagen and Anderson had top-10 finishes.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Mueggenberg, Clark, Hyman and Enabnit had a first-place finish in 1:32.88.
The 400-yard freestyle relay capped the meet with Boone’s quartet of Mueggenberg, Enabnit, Hyman and Clark finishing second by just .25 seconds (3:20.70).

Boone’s overall record stands at 21-8 and its dual record is 4-0.
The Toreadors will travel to Grinnell for a dual meet Thursday, January 8.
