Boone girls edge Ogden in tight dual

In a back‑and‑forth night of girls wrestling, the Boone Toreadors girls’ wrestling team outlasted Ogden, 34–33, in a razor‑thin dual meet Monday, January 5, at Ogden High School.

In a back‑and‑forth night of girls wrestling, the Boone Toreadors girls’ wrestling team outlasted Ogden, 34–33, in a razor‑thin dual meet Monday, January 5, at Ogden High School.  

Ogden opened the night at 100 pounds, where Rylin Casey won via forfeit. 

At 110, Poppy Malone started Boone’s scoring with a forfeit victory.  

Boone kept things rolling at 115, where Reese Majors earned an 11–3 major decision over Ogden’s Trinity Stoneburner to give Boone its first lead of the night. 

Boone added another six at 120, with Johanna Meeks receiving a forfeit. 

Ogden regained control between 125 and 135. 

At 125, Sophie Seligman pinned Boone’s Brayleigh Haglund in exactly two minutes. 

At 130, Jozlyn Wells followed with a fall in 1:46 over Averie Strollo. 

At 135, Ogden’s Alauna Wells prevailed in one of the tightest bouts of the night, defeating Emersyn Zehner 2–1 in the first tiebreaker period. 

Boone countered with two crucial pins in the heart of the lineup. 

At 140, Abigail Molitor delivered a big fall at 1:24 over Kinley Hare.  

The Toreadors grabbed another victory at 155, where Gracie Vodenik recorded a fall in 1:58 against Glenda Moody. 

At 170, Makayla Alexander pinned Boone’s Gabriella Eckard in 2:54.  

The Bulldogs added another victory at 190, where Grace Hammer stopped Cadence Heggen in just 21 seconds. 

But Boone sealed the dual at 235, where Brooklynn Elliott came through with a clutch fall at 3:29 over Ruby Tasler.

Ogden will travel to North Polk for a quad with Garner Hayfield-Ventura, Carlisle and North Polk tonight. 

Boone will travel to Nevada for a dual tournament Thursday, January 8.
