Boone girls go 1-2 at Nevada duals

The Boone girls’ wrestling team finished 1-2 Thursday, January 8, at the Nevada Dual Tournament in Nevada.

The Boone girls’ wrestling team finished 1-2 Thursday, January 8, at the Nevada Dual Tournament in Nevada. 

The Toreadors notched a 54–30 win over the host Cubs, followed by losses against Southeast Polk in the semifinals and Woodward‑Granger in the third‑place dual.  

Boone 54, Nevada 30 

Boone opened the tournament with a win over host Nevada. 

Johanna Meeks had a fall in 1:26 at 120, and Emersyn Zehner had a fall in 1:45 at 135.

Gracie Vodenik also had a fall in 2:48 at 155. 

Southeast Polk 62, Boone 18 

In the semifinals, Boone lost to Southeast Polk. 

Brayleigh Haglund had a fall in 1:32 at 125 while Vodenik had a fall in 1:34 at 155. 

Woodward‑Granger 46, Boone 30 

In the third-place dual, Boone lost to Woodward-Granger. 

Poppy Malone had a fall in 0:37 at 105, and Reese Majors had a fall in 2:27 at 115. 

Vodenik recorded her third fall of the evening in 1:32 at 155, and Brooklynn Elliott also had a fall in 2:27 at 235.

The Boone girls travel to Ogden for an invitational tomorrow beginning at 9:30 a.m.
