
The Boone Toreadors boys’ swim team powered past three opponents to win their home quad meet Tuesday, January 20, at Boone High School.
Boone tallied 410 points, beating Carroll (346), Spencer (318) and Algona Bishop Garrigan (135).
Boone won the 400 freestyle relay where Brady Hyman, Isaac Winey, Marcus Cook and Simon Enabnit combined to finish in 3:30.41.
The Toreadors placed second in the 200 freestyle relay as Winey, Muggenberg, Cooper Jensen and Hyman swam it in 1:33.21.
Boone also placed third in the 200 medley relay with Asher Powell, Enabnit, Muggenberg and Issac Clark finishing in 1:55.80.
Individually, Boone had several standout performances.
Clark won the 50 freestyle in 21.08 and also won the 100 butterfly in 52.58.
Enabnit claimed the 200 IM title in 2:07.74 and added a win in the 100 backstroke in 56.33.
Mueggenberg placed second in the 50 free in 22.54 and was third in the 100 fly in 59.70.
Hyman finished third in the 200 free in 1:58.04 with Calvin Cook finishing fourth in 2:00.37.
Jensen placed second in the 200 IM in 2:15.49.
Winey finished second in the 100 free in 51.81 with Jensen finishing fourth in 54.39.
Hyman was third in the 500 free in 5:23.62 with Calvin Cook next in fourth in 5:28.27.
Tristian Bierwagen placed fifth in the 100 back in 1:08.35.
Wes Schuler finished fourth in the 100 breast in 1:12.77, and Everett Norman was sixth in 1:16.64.
With the victory, the Toreadors improved to 31–12 overall and remained perfect in dual competition at 8–0.
Boone returns to action Thursday, January 22, as they travel to Fort Dodge for a triangular with Ames and Fort Dodge.
