Carroll boys pull away from Boone

The Boone boys’ basketball team couldn’t keep pace with Carroll, falling 67–47 in a Raccoon River Conference game Tuesday, January 27, at Boone High School.

The Boone boys’ basketball team couldn’t keep pace with Carroll, falling 67–47 in a Raccoon River Conference game Tuesday, January 27, at Boone High School. 

Boone was led by Braxton Gifford, who finished with 18 points, including four three‑pointers.  

Landon Myers added 10 points, and Hendrix Moorman had 9 points, including one three-pointer. 

Jude Baumgardner chipped in six points, knocking down a three and making a free throw. 

Ryan Bowers and Abel Tungesvik each scored two points. 

With the win, Carroll improved to 11–3 overall and 9–2 in the conference, while Boone dropped to 3–11 overall and 0–10 in conference play.  

The Toreadors remain home Friday, January 30, and host Bondurant‑Farrar (3–11 overall, 2–9 RRC). 

The game will air on KWBG FM 101.5, AM 1590, and will stream live on kwbglive.com, with sports director Ryan Wendt on the call. 

Pack the Gym on Friday 

Friday is Pack the Gym Night (rescheduled from January 23) and features a full lineup of community activities. 

  • Free cookies for the first 200 Boone students (Boone Fareway) 
  • Cheer clinic for grades K–8 from 4:30–6 p.m., with a halftime performance 
  • Chili feed from 5–6:30 p.m. in the commons ($8 suggested donation, Boone Hy‑Vee) 
  • Games, photo booth, face painting, temporary tattoos, and $5 spirit bracelets from 5:30–7 p.m. (Just So Magical Vacations) 
  • Boone dance team performance at halftime of the boys’ varsity game 
  • Dessert auction during halftime of the boys’ game 
  • Poster signing by varsity athletes after the first quarter of the opposite game 
  • 5th Quarter Dodgeball for grades 5–12 after the boys’ game ($5 per player, teams of 6, Boone Basketball Club)
