
DES MOINES, Iowa—A week ago, Iowa’s seasonally adjust unemployment rate was 3.5% for December. The number level with the November rate. The total number of unemployed Iowans decreased to 61,400 in December, down from 61,800 in November.
Locally, the individual county data, which is unadjusted, shows Boone County increased a tenth of a percent from 2.6% to 2.7%. Story County was unchanged at 2.4%, Dallas County was also unchanged at 2.9%. Also up a tenth of a percent were Polk County, 3.4% to 3.5%, and Webster County from 3.1% to 3.2%.
The largest increase was recorded in Greene County which went from 2.6% in November to 2.8% in December. The largest decrease was Hamilton County, a two-tenths decline from 2.5% in November to 2.3% in December.
