
The Boone basketball teams came up short against Gilbert in a Raccoon River Conference doubleheader Monday, February 2, at Boone, with the girls losing, 60-32, and the boys falling, 68-63.
For the girls, Macy Chesnut led Boone with 19 points, hitting 3‑of‑8 from three and adding four rebounds, two steals, and two offensive boards.
Whitney Chesnut added 10 points, also knocking down three three‑pointers, and had eight rebounds, four steals, three offensive boards, and two assists.
Brooke Weisbrod had four rebounds and four blocks, while Avah Hayes and Hadley Gustafson added four rebounds apiece.
Kyra Darby finished with three assists, and both Weisbrod and Whitney Chesnut added two.
The loss drops Boone to 4–13 overall and 1–11 in conference play, while Gilbert improves to 9–9 overall and 6–6 in the Raccoon River Conference.
Boone boys lose to Gilbert
The Boone boys fell to Gilbert, 68–63, in a conference matchup Monday, February 2, at Boone High School.
Landon Myers paced the Toreadors with 21 points on 8‑for‑15 shooting, including 3‑of‑4 from beyond the arc and a perfect night at the free‑throw line.
Myers also had eight rebounds, four of which came on the offensive end, and added three assists.
Jude Baumgardner had 14 points, 11 rebounds, two steals, and six assists with zero turnovers.
Hendrix Moorman added 13 points, hitting three triples and going 2‑for‑2 at the stripe.
Cole Christeson contributed four rebounds, two offensive boards, a steal, and six assists.
Boone falls to 3–13 overall and 0–12 in the Raccoon River Conference, while Gilbert moves to 11–5 overall and 8–4 in league play.
Boone hosts Winterset tonight in a Raccoon River Conference doubleheader that is Senior Night for both the basketball and cheer teams.
