
The Boone Toreadors boys’ wrestling team opened the 3A Regional Duals defeating Lewis Central, 41–40, before losing to Southeast Polk, 61-14, Tuesday, February 3, at Southeast Polk High School.
Boone 41, Lewis Central 40
Boone stormed out to an early lead against Lewis Central behind back‑to‑back pins from Easton Landas (106) and Aiden Harris (113), giving the Toreadors a quick 12–0 advantage.
After Lewis Central responded with a tech fall at 120, Issac McCloud (126) picked up a forfeit.
Ajay Braddock (132) continued Boone’s surge, pinning Garrett Bills in 1:52 to push the lead to 24–5.
Lewis Central answered again with a pair of wins, but Owen Thomas (150) kept Boone in control with a 1:27 fall.
Brody Warrick (165) dominated with a 17‑0 tech fall, then Trent Eckard (175) pinned his opponent in just 46 seconds.
Lewis Central charged back late with a string of wins from 190 through heavyweight, closing the gap to a single point.
But Boone secured a 41–40 victory and advanced the Toreadors to the regional final.
Southeast Polk 61, Boone 14
Boone then faced No. 1 seed Southeast Polk and lost, 61-14, with the Rams claiming 11 of 14 matches.
For Boone, Harris pinned Jaren Wirtz in 3:44, Warrick earned another technical fall (16‑0) and Eckard battled for a 13‑10 decision.
Southeast Polk advanced with the 61–14 victory, ending Boone’s dual season.

The Boone boys’ wrestling team will travel to Ankeny for their district wrestling meet Saturday, February 14.
Teams in Boone’s district include Ames, Ankeny, Boone, Carlisle, Dallas Center-Grimes, Des Moines East, Des Moines North and Linn-Mar.
Placements at districts will determine who qualifies for the state tournament, which will be held Wednesday through Saturday, February 18- 21, at Casey’s Center in Des Moines.
