The Boone boys’ swim team delivered a strong performance at the district meet hosted by Ames High School on Saturday, February 7, earning state-qualifying spots in seven events and finishing second overall in the team standings with 344 points.

West Des Moines Dowling Catholic won the meet with 437 points.

Relays lead the charge

Boone’s relay teams punched tickets in all three events.

The 200 medley relay of Simon Enabnit, Calvin Cook, Cooper Jensen and Isaac Winey powered to a 1:41.59, placing third in the district and securing a spot at state where they are seeded 19th.

Carson Muggenberg, Isaac Clark, Enabnit and Brady Hyman clocked 1:27.91 in the 200 freestyle relay, qualifying for state where they are seeded 11th.

Boone’s 400 freestyle relay of Hyman, Jensen, Enabnit and Clark closed the meet winning the district title in 3:15.52, good for a number 8 seed entering state.

Clark, Hyman, Enabnit lead individual qualifiers

Boone added several individual state berths.

Clark swam the 50 freestyle in 20.71, finishing second only to the defending state champion and will be seeded second.

In addition, Brady Hyman is the 19th seed at state with a 21.98 in the 50 free and Carson Mueggenberg qualified in 22.19.

In the 100 Freestyle, Clark is the 7th seed with a 47.10, Mueggenberg qualified in 48.26, and Brady Hyman is the 28th seed with 49.17.

Enabnit swam 2:01.59 in the 200 IM, placing fifth in the district and is seeded 18th for state.

Jensen punched his ticket in the 100 butterfly with a 56.31, placing third at the district and is seeded 32nd at state.

Complete results were previously posted to kwbg.com

A tough moment came during the meet when Muggenberg caught his foot on the pool deck and suffered a cut requiring medical attention.

He will not swim his individual events at state, but his coach is hopeful he’ll be available to swim in the relays.

The Toreadors head to the State Meet in Iowa City Friday and Saturday, February 13 and 14., with seven events qualified
