The Ogden Bulldogs boys’ wresting team wrapped up two days of competition at the Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines, sending four wrestlers to the Class 1A brackets on Thursday and Friday, February 19 and 20.

Sophomore Ryder Eklund at 132 (40–6) opened his state tournament with a first‑round bye before running into top‑ranked Braylon Peters (Westwood), who won the second‑round match by tech fall.

Eklund rebounded in the consolation bracket.

He pinned Matthew Donovan (South Winneshiek) in 1:36, then followed with another fall — this time in 1:46 — over Johnny Cortez (Coon Rapids‑Bayard).

Eklund’s tournament concluded in Consolation Round 4, where Blake Irvine (Don Bosco) won by fall at the 4:38 mark.

Senior Kinnick Munson at 138 (34–9) started with a 21–6 tech fall over Ethan Gayken (West Hancock), finishing the match in just 2:26.

Munson faced a tough second‑round opponent in Hayden Riggan (Louisa‑Muscatine), who won by fall.

He then dropped a Consolation Round 2 matchup to Gage Johnson (Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union).

Junior Dillon Moe at 150 (24–14) opened with a tough loss to Sam Raymond (Council Bluffs St. Albert), falling late in the second period.

He received a consolation bye but was eliminated in his next match after an 11–4 loss to Jariyah Bowles (Ackley-Geneva-Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock).

Junior Lucas Pelleymounter at 157 (17–11) dropped his opening match to Jaxon Gordon (Riverside) by fall.

After receiving a consolation bye, Pelleymounter’s tournament ended in a Consolation Round 2 fall to Caleb Skogen (Lake Mills).

Season highlights

In addition, Ogden won the district title with Moe and Eklund as district champions.

Eklund won the Ogden Individual Tournament and the West Central Activities Conference title, and Eklund and Munson champions at the Manson-Northwest Webster tournament.
