County Attorney’s Report

BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Attorney Matthew Speers office releases a report about cases handled by the County Attorney’s office in the past week:

COURT SUMMARIES

2-23-25 – 3-6-26

– Michael Cody Streeter, 33, Boone, was sentenced by the District Court following a guilty plea to Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – Cause to Engage in Act, a Class B Felony. The defendant was sentenced to 25 years in prison, with a mandatory 12.5 years to serve before being eligible for parole. The defendant was also placed on the Sex Offender Registry and special parole for life. The case was investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

– Donavon Eugene Harris, 42, Boone, was sentenced by the District Court following guilty pleas to two counts of Burglary 3rd and one count of Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd, all Class D Felonies as a Habitual Offender. The defendant was ordered to serve 30 years in prison with a mandatory minimum 6 years before being eligible for parole. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Bradley Louis Habben, 39, Dayton, had a previously granted probation revoked by the District Court for various original offenses. The defendant was ordered to serve the originally suspended 24 year prison sentence.

– Kathy Jodean Nelson, 51, Fort Dodge, had a previously granted probation revoked by the District Court on an original charge of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, a Class C Felony. The defendant was ordered to serve her originally suspended 10 year prison sentence.

– Spencer Colin Kling, 20, Grimes received a deferred judgment from the District Court following a guilty plea to Serious Injury by Motor Vehicle, a Class D Felony. On the deferred the defendant was placed on probation with terms to include community service plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

– Alexandra Paige Thomas, 34, Boone, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to OWI 2nd, an Aggravated Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years in prison, with all but 7 days suspended. On the suspended portion, the defendant was placed on probation with terms to include completion of a substance abuse evaluation with follow through of treatment, a drinking drivers course, plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Aaron Deondre Parry, 30, Boone, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following guilty pleas to three counts of Possession of Marijuana 1st, all Serious Misdemeanors. The defendant was sentenced to 6 days in jail, completion of a substance abuse evaluation with follow through of treatment, plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Boone Police Department.

– Kelly Jo Parcel, 34, Scranton, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to OWI 1st, a Serious Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year in jail with all but 2 days suspended. On the suspended portion, the defendant was placed on probation with terms to include completion of a substance abuse evaluation with follow through of treatment, a drinking drivers course, plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

– Misty Devee Pickens, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to Driving While Revoked, a Serious Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Bryon Jeffery Lee Tilley, 18, Boone, had a previously granted probation revoked by the Magistrate Court following a stipulation to having violated his probation. The defendant was sentenced to 7 days in jail.

– Kendall Elaine Peterson, 30, Scranton, was sentenced by the Magistrate Court following a guilty plea to Theft 5th, a Simple Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.

– Blake Edward Sawyer, 43, Perry, was sentenced by the Magistrate Court following a guilty plea to Public Intoxication, a Simple Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
