
The Madrid boys’ track and field team opened its season Friday, March 13, at the IATC Indoor Meet at Iowa State University’s Lied Recreation Center in Ames.
Field events
Sophomore Jevyn Severson, captured 3rd place in the shot put with a throw of 50‑02.75.
Junior Brady Springer added a 17‑04.50 effort in the long jump to place 23rd.
Relay events
Madrid’s Shuttle Hurdle Relay of Will Atkinson, Jake Sawyer, Chase Perkins and Springer combined for 37.36, placing 9th.
The 4×400 Relay of Springer, Kole Deppe, Perkins and Kris White clocked 3:56.29 to finish 22nd.
The 4×800 Relay of Henry Hudnall, Cavin Pehl, Hudson White and Kris White ran a 9:10.13 for 12th place.
Running events
Senior Jacob Farrell placed 10th in the 60‑meter dash prelims with a time of 7.29 seconds.
Atkinson finished 15th in the 60‑meter hurdle prelims at 9.20 seconds.
In the 1600-meter run, Pehl finished in 5:05.36 to finish 15th.
The Madrid girls and boys next compete against Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Earlham and Gilbert at the ADM early bird meet Thursday, March 26.
