Boone girls track places second at Carroll Early Bird meet

The Boone girls track and field team finished second with 101.33 points as Jennifer LaMar won two throwing events Thursday, March 26, at the Carroll CoEd Early Bird Relays.

The Boone girls track and field team finished second with 101.33 points as Jennifer LaMar won two throwing events Thursday, March 26, at the Carroll CoEd Early Bird Relays. 

Glenwood won the meet with 142.67 points. 

Field events 

LaMar dominated two events, winning the shot put with a mark of 36-07.75 and winning the discus as well with a toss of 102-03. 

Maleah Shivers finished third in shot put with a throw of 34-03.00. 

Taylor Arringdale placed third in the long jump at 14-08.00, while Halle Bailey earned fifth at 13-09.00.  

Ainsley Powell added a tie for fourth in the high jump, clearing 4-04. 

Distance events 

Reagan Morgan led the way with a victory in the 1500 meters, clocking 5:31.21 while Quinn Houston was 4th in 6:10.45. 

Morgan also competed on the 4×800-meter relay team—along with Briella Johnson, Finley Houser and Whitney Chesnut—as the team scored a runner‑up finish in 10:52.32. 

The distance medley of Bailey, Arringdale, Briella Johnson and Reagan Morgan placed 3rd in 4:51.48. 

In the 3000-meter run, Bethany Van Dyke added a fifth‑place finish in 13:30.60. 

In the 800-meter run, Chesnut finished 5th in 2:49.02, and Houser placed 6th in 2:50.46. 

Sprint events 

Abigail Leu ran 13.42 in the 100 meters to take fourth, while Tala Wittrock placed fifth in the 200 meters at 29.59. 

Avah Hayes finished 4th in the 400-meter dash in 1:08.76, and Bry Morgan placed 5th in 1:09.07. 

The 4×400-meter relay squad of Bry Morgan, Makenzie Klatt, Kyra Darby and Briella Johnson had third‑place finish in 4:37.39,  

The 4×200-meter relay of Klatt, Bailey, Hayes and Wittrock placed fourth in 2:00.36. 

The 4×100-meter relay of Leu, Hayes, Arringdale, and Bailey also finished fourth, clocking 55.55. 

The shuttle hurdle relay of Maylin Griffis, Klatt, Jenna Johnson and Darby placed 4th in 1:21.78. 

Boone’s sprint medley relay of Hadley Gustafson, Cailynne Peruti, Griffis and Mady Davidson took fifth in 2:08.61.
