Boone girls win 3 relays at B-F Co-ed Invite

The Boone girls track and field team won three relays and one individual event Monday, March 30, at the Bondurant‑Farrar Coed Invitational before the meet was canceled due to lightning following the girls 100‑meter hurdles event.

The Boone girls track and field team won three relays and one individual event Monday, March 30, at the Bondurant‑Farrar Coed Invitational before the meet was canceled due to lightning following the girls 100‑meter hurdles event. 

The Toreadors were second in the team standings with 85 points at the time of cancellation, trailing only host Bondurant‑Farrar. 

Relay events 

Boone claimed first place in the 4×800‑meter relay as Whitney Chesnut, Finley Houser, Quinn Houston and Briella Johnson combined for a winning time of 10:57.37.  

The Toreadors also won the distance medley relay title, crossing the finish line in 4:35.47 (Halle Bailey, Taylor Arringdale, Bry Morgan and Reagan Morgan). 

Additionally, the Toreadors won the 4×200‑meter relay (Bailey, Tala Wittrock, Kyra Darby and McKenzie Klatt) with a time of 1:54.90. 

Boone placed third in the sprint medley relay (Hadley Gustafson, Klatt, Bry Morgan and Avah Hayes) in 2:04.73. 

The shuttle hurdle relay of Maylin Griffis, Klatt, Jenna Johnson and Darby also finished third in 1:16.81. 

Field events 

Jennifer LaMar won the shot put with a throw of 39‑6, while Maleah Shivers followed with a second‑place finish (35-10.5).  

LaMar also placed fifth in the discus (92-08). 

Arringdale finished second in the long jump with a mark of 15‑6.5.  

Running events 

Reagan Morgan placed third in the 3,000-meter run in 12:12.47. 

Houser placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:08.17, while Mady Davidson placed 5th in 1:09.55. 

Abi Leu placed 6th in the 100-meter dash in 13.60.

The girls are scheduled to host the Boone Invite with Marshalltown, Fort Dodge, Waukee Northwest and Newton attending beginning at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at Goeppinger Field.
