
The Madrid boys’ and girls’ golf teams opened the season Monday, April 6, at Woodward Golf Course against Pleasantville, Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center and West Central Valley.
On the boys side, Madrid finished with a team score of 192.
Pleasantville earned the team victory with a 148.
The Tigers were led individually by Zach Newell, who turned in a round of 42.
Terrin Lawrensen followed with a 48, while Eli Petersen added a 50.
Emerson Bridgewater and Levi Kockler each shot 52 and Landon Schneider shot a 64 to round out the Madrid golfers.
Individually, Pleasantville’s Easton Cox claimed medalist honors with a round of 34.
Caylor Jones of Pleasantville finished runner‑up with a 37.
The Madrid girls also competed at Woodward.
Abby Williams led the Tigers with a round of 52, finishing as the meet runner‑up.
Ashlyn Burkhart was close behind with another 52.
Morgan Christensen added a 69 to complete Madrid’s scoring.
Pleasantville won the girls team title with a 232.
Laney Harvey of Pleasantville earned medalist honors with a 51, edging Williams by one stroke.

The golfers next compete Monday, April 13, at Pleasantville against Wooward-Granger, Earlham and Pleasantville.
