
The Boone boys’ track and field team earned the team championship Monday, April 27, at the Des Moines Christian Invitational in Urbandale.
The Toreadors won with 179 points and edged host Des Moines Christian by six points.
Boone claimed first‑place finishes in the distance medley relay, the 4×200-meter relay, the 4×100-meter relay, and the 4×400-meter relay.
The distance medley relay of Ryder Hilsabeck, Gabe Villalva, Jayson Clark and Dorian Myers team earned first place with a time of 3:47.65.
Boone’s 4×200 relay team of George Grote, Bentley Stolte, Hilsabeck and Max McLaughlin took first in 1:38.23.
The 4×100 relay squad of Grote, Issac McCloud, Hilsabeck and Villalva also finished first, clocking 48.06.
The 4×400 relay team of Ajay Braddock, Clark, Myers and Maddox McIntyre closed the meet with a victory, running 3:36.57.
Bodie Brogden won the 110‑meter hurdles in 16.37 and finished second in the 400‑meter hurdles in 1:02.90.
In the field events, Jude Baumgardner won the shot put with a throw of 47-08.50.
Caden Sprecher followed with a strong showing in the discus, finishing second with a throw of 142-07, while Javier Casiano added a third‑place finish in the shot put with a throw of 43-11.00.
Jaydon Clark added points with a second‑place finish in the long jump with a jump of 20-01.00 and a third‑place run in the 200-meter run in 23.96.
Villalva was third in the long jump in 19-11.50.
McIntyre placed second in the 200 in 23.76 and took third in the 400-meter run in 53.65.
Dorian Myers earned a runner‑up finish in the 800-meter run in 2:05.58.
The sprint medley relay of Stolte, RJ Lennon, Grote and McLaughlin ended second in 1:46.21.
The shuttle hurdle relay of Brogden, Brenden Hedrick, Noel Malin and Issac McCloud finished second in 1:05.00.
