
Jude Baumgardner captured the conference title in the discus for the Boone boys’ track team at the Raccoon River Conference Meet on Wednesday, May 6, hosted by Adel-DeSoto-Minburn.
The Toreadors finished ninth overall with 42 team points, and Gilbert won the meet with 164 points.
Individual events
Baumgardner won the discus with a throw of 153‑10 and also added a third‑place finish in the shot put, recording a mark of 48‑10.5.
In the long jump, Gabe Villalva placed fifth with a jump of 19‑9.25, while Jaydon Clark finished eighth at 19‑4.00.
Maddox McIntyre placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.36.
Brenden Hedrick placed eighth in the 110‑meter hurdles, clocking 16.05 seconds.
Relay events
Boone secured a fifth‑place finish in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:34.50 with Clark, Ajay Braddock, Bodie Brogden and McIntyre.
Boone also placed sixth in the 4×800-meter relay, running 8:56.48, with Braddock, Pearson Lampe, Calvin Cook and Teddy Johnson.
The distance medley relay of George Grote, Ryder Hillsabeck, Clark and Braddock finished sixth om 3:51.57.
The 4×200-meter relay of Grote, Issac McCloud, Trig Nystrom and Hillsabeck finished seventh in 1:38.59.
The sprint medley relay of Hillsabeck, RJ Lennon, Nystrom and Grote finished eighth in 1:45.74.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Villalva, Hillsabeck, Grote and Nystrom also placed eighth with a time of 46.28.

The boys next compete at the Class 3A State Qualifying meet Thursday, May 14, at North Polk High School in Alleman.
Ballard, Boone, Des Moines Hoover, Gilbert, North Polk, Perry, Saydel and Winterset will compete at North Polk.
