Richard Silver

Richard Silver, 81, Tampa, Florida and formerly of Boone, Iowa

BOONE, Iowa—Richard Silver, age 81 of Tampa, Florida, and formerly of Boone, died at Elysian Gardens Assisted Living Facility on March 23, 2026. Following his wishes, Richard was cremated.

A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, in the Erb Center located at the Boone County Fairgrounds, 1601 Industrial Park Road, Boone. Following the Service, a time of fellowship and refreshments will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in the adjoining room.

Richard Wayne Silver, was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on January 17, 1945, the son of Donald Wayne Silver and Vivian Lorraine Waechter.

Richard graduated from Boone High School in 1963, where he excelled in diving. On December 2, 1965, Richard was united in marriage to Barbara Jipp in Boone.

Richard was drafted into the Army in 1966, where he served as Clerk of Courts in Germany. After returning to the States, Richard completed 2 years of college then worked as an engineer; drawing schematics for large laundry systems and overseeing installs.

Richard enjoyed rehabbing sailboats and sailing around Tampa Bay, near Apollo Beach, Florida. Not only did he fix the boats, he built the cabinetry and sewed bimini shades, pillow, cushion and sail covers. His goal had been to live on a sailboat and see the world from the ocean.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara in 2019; parents, Don and Vivian; as well as his in-laws, Charles and Eleanor Jipp and brother-in-law, Chuck Jipp.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Michelle Jungling of Wesley Chapel, Florida; a son, Richard and Natalie Silver of Woodstock, Georgia; siblings, Carla (Jeff) Toms, Ron (Mindy) Silver, and Roger (Shelly) Silver; sisters-in-law, Lori Lavender Jipp and Debbie Lindenberg; grandchildren, Nathan and Clayton Jungling and Madison Silver; a niece and four nephews.

In memory of Richard, memorials may be directed to the family.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Richard’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
