BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Fire Department responded to a fire call north of Boone on Nature Road late Saturday night. Firefighters battled a camper fire that was spreading to a nearby structure. The Department placed this report on the Department’s Facebook page:
At approximately 11:31PM last night, the Boone Fire Department was dispatched to 393 Nature Rd. for a camper on fire. Engine 8-65 and Engine 8-61 responded with 3 firefighters and requested a callback for 2 to cover the station. The on-duty crew arrived approximately 11 minutes after the 911 call was placed, finding a camper fully involved and beginning to spread to a nearby residence.
Engine 8-65 crew deployed a handline and began working to cool the residence and bring the camper fire under control. The main body of the fire was extinguished within approximately 9 minutes of arrival. Crews remained on scene for just over an hour working to extinguish hot spots and ensuring that there was no further risk to the residence. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters during the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Boone Fire Department was assisted by the Boone County Communications Center, Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the Boone County Ambulance.
