
The Boone softball team shut out ninth-ranked Winterset, 8-0, in a Raccoon River Conference game Wednesday, June 17, at Winterset.
The Toreadors scored two runs in the top of the first inning to set the tone.
Boone added single runs in the third and fourth innings before breaking the game open with a four-run sixth inning.
Brooke Weisbrod finished with three hits, including a home run and a double, drove in five runs, and scored once.
She also earned the complete-game victory while striking out four and keeping Winterset off the scoreboard.
Claire Hardinger recorded three hits, scored twice, and added an RBI.
Halle Bailey collected two hits and drove in a run.
Kaylee Kuehl chipped in a hit and RBI.
Harper Kuehl, Tenley Williams, and Abigail Leu each added a hit.
With the win, Boone improved to 9-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Winterset dropped to 11-8 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
Boone will travel to Indianola (7-11) for a non-conference matchup tonight.
