Weekly Fuel Report

KWBG 07/01/26

DES MOINES, Iowa—The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has released the Weekly Fuel Report. The price of regular unleaded gasoline fell 1 cent from last week’s price and is currently averaging $3.53 across Iowa according to AAA.

Crude Oil Summary

  • The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $2.37 per barrel, and is currently priced at $68.06.
  • Brent crude oil fell by $2.91 and is currently priced at $71.10.
  • One year ago, WTI crude sold for $66.64 and Brent crude was $67.63.

Motor Fuels

  • As of Wednesday, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.53 across Iowa according to AAA.
    • Prices fell 1 cent from last week’s price and are up 57 cents from a year ago.
    • The national average on Wednesday was $3.85, down 8 cents from last week’s price.
  • Retail diesel prices in Iowa fell 17 cents this week with a statewide average of $4.35.
    • One year ago, diesel prices averaged $3.58 in Iowa.
    • The current Iowa diesel price is 49 cents lower than the national average of $4.84.
  • The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.54 for U87-E10, $3.11 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $2.98 for ULSD#2, $3.18 for ULSD#1, and $2.29 per gallon for E-70 prices.

Heating Fuels

Tips for saving energy on the road or at home are available at energy.gov and fueleconomy.gov.

Natural gas prices were down 3 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $3.21 MMbtu.

We will continue reporting retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa in October.
