The Boone girls’ tennis team turned in a dominant performance Thursday, August 20, rolling to an 11-0 victory at Fort Dodge.

Boone won all six singles matches and all five doubles contests without dropping a team point.

“It was a beautiful day for tennis,” said head coach Shawn Latimer.

In singles play, every Boone player earned a straight-set victory.

At No. 1 singles, Maiya Phanchantraurai won 6-0, 6-0, while senior Kaylee Kuehl posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 2 position.

Claire Hardinger earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3, Olivia Conlin won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4.

Harper Kuehl claimed a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 5, and Rozzie Stevenson completed the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.

“It was a nice little tune up against a senior led Fort Dodge team before our home invite,” Latimer said.

Boone continued its strong play in doubles competition.

The top team of Phanchantraurai and Hardinger cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory, while Kaylee Kuehl and Schneider won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Conlin and Harper Kuehl added a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.

Stevenson and Michaella Anderson earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 4 doubles match, and Boone’s fifth doubles team of Halle Bailey and Sara Owen closed out the afternoon with a 6-2, 7-5 win.

With the sweep, Boone finished the dual with an 11-0 team victory.

The Toreadors will host Des Moines Lincoln, Webster City and Council Bluffs St. Albert in their home invitational today at McHose Park and will travel to Pella for the 15-team Tulip City Tussle Saturday.

“Our busy week continues with our home invite today and one of the biggest invites in the state with the Tulip Tussle in Pella on Saturday,” Latimer said.
