Ogden volleyball goes 2-1 at quad

The Ogden volleyball team earned a pair of victories and finished 2-1 overall Tuesday, September 1, at the Irwin-Kirkman-Manilla-Manning quad.

The Ogden volleyball team earned a pair of victories and finished 2-1 overall Tuesday, September 1, at the Irwin-Kirkman-Manilla-Manning quad. 

The Bulldogs opened the day with a 2-1 victory over Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton before sweeping Arcadia-Westside-Vail, 2-0.  

Ogden fell 2-0 to host IKM-Manning in its final match. 

Match 1: Ogden 2, Exira-EHK 1 

Against Exira-EHK, setter Ella Anderson directed the Bulldog offense with 15 assists, while Olivia Coleman led with eight kills.  

Sydney Craighton added six kills and two blocks.  

Defensively, senior Melana Sesker collected 11 digs and Anderson added five. 

Macy Bristle delivered eight aces and went a perfect 15-for-15 from the service line. 

Anderson was 8-for-8 serving and Coleman finished 4-for-4 as the Bulldogs served at a 91 percent rate as a team. 

Match 2: Ogden 2, Ar-We-Va  0 

The Bulldogs carried that momentum into their second match, defeating Ar-We-Va in straight sets. 

Anderson again paced the offense with 10 assists, while Sidney Crane recorded a team-high six kills.  

Anderson and Coleman each added four kills.  

Crane also contributed two blocks. 

Sesker anchored the defense with nine digs. 

Ogden continued its efficient serving, highlighted by Coleman going 14-for-14 with four aces.  

Grace Christensen finished 5-for-5, and Crane went 4-for-4.  

The Bulldogs posted a 90 percent team serving percentage. 

Match 3: IKM-Manning 2, Ogden 0 

In the final match against IKM-Manning, Ogden dropped a 2-0 decision. 

Anderson and Craighton each recorded three kills, with Anderson also tallying seven assists.  

Hallie Bristle led the Bulldogs with five digs while Coleman added four.  

Sesker had two ace serves, and Christensen and Coleman remained perfect from the service line, going 4-for-4 and 5-for-5, respectively. 

Ogden now sits at 2-2 overall on the season and will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 8 for a West Central Activities Conference game. 

The Bulldogs travel to face Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center, which enters the matchup with a 4-0 record.
