Ogden volleyball wins 3 at Woodward-Granger tourney

The Ogden volleyball team won three matches at the Woodward-Granger Tournament on Saturday, September 12, finishing 3-2 and improving its season record to 10-5.

The Ogden volleyball team won three matches at the Woodward-Granger Tournament on Saturday, September 12, finishing 3-2 and improving its season record to 10-5. 

The Bulldogs opened the tournament with a straight-set victory over West Central Valley before losing to Boone and host Woodward-Granger.  

Ogden bounced back with wins over Perry and Colfax-Mingo. 

Match 1: Ogden 2, West Central Valley 0 

In the opening match, a 2-0 win over West Central Valley, Hallie Bristle distributed the offense with 14 assists.  

Macy Bristle led the attack with six kills while Olivia Coleman added five.  

Defensively, Melana Sesker collected seven digs, and Grace Christensen sparked the Bulldogs from the service line with four aces.  

Ogden also received perfect serving performances from Coleman and Sesker while serving 90 percent as a team. 

Match 2: Boone 2, Ogden 1 

Ogden lost a three-set match to Boone.  

Hallie Bristle again directed the offense with 15 assists, while Coleman and Macy Bristle finished with five kills each.  

Sesker recorded 15 digs to lead the defense.  

Christensen added an ace while going 8-for-8 serving, and Paysen Graden was a perfect 9-for-9 as the Bulldogs served 91 percent as a team despite the setback. 

Match 3: Woodward-Granger 2, Ogden 0 

The Bulldogs then dropped a 2-0 decision to tournament host Woodward-Granger. 

Coleman led the team with three kills, while Hallie Bristle had two assists.  

Christensen and Sesker each recorded four digs.  

Ogden continued its strong serving effort with aces from Christensen, Graden and Sesker, and the team again served at a 90 percent clip. 

Match 4: Ogden 2, Perry 0 

Ogden responded with a 2-0 victory over Perry.  

Hallie Bristle finished with 12 assists, while Coleman paced the offense with five kills. 

Sidney Crane contributed two blocks at the net, and Sesker totaled seven digs. 

Christensen, Coleman, Hallie Bristle and Macy Bristle each recorded an ace, while Macy Bristle was a perfect 14-for-14 serving. 

Match 5: Ogden 2, Colfax-Mingo 1 

The Bulldogs closed the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Colfax-Mingo.  

Coleman had an outstanding all-around performance, leading the team with seven kills and seven digs.  

Hallie Bristle added 10 assists and two aces, while Kenzie Banks contributed two blocks. 

Christensen added two aces, and both Macy Bristle and Sesker posted perfect serving performances as Ogden finished with a team serving percentage of 92 percent. 

Now 10-5 on the season, Ogden will return home tonight to host a quadrangular featuring Pleasantville, Collins-Maxwell and Madrid beginning at 5 p.m.
